In order to show your news on your website, login to NewsOffice and go to Settings -> Placement. Make sure everything is filled in correctly. This is mostly the case. Place the code you get from compiling in the file you want to show your news and place it on your website. NewsOffice will automaticly show the correct news on your website.
When a newer version is avaliable you can download it from this website or the updater system in NewsOffice. Choose the upgrade package. When you downloaded it, unpack de .zip file and copy the included files to your installation of NewsOffice. Now go to your NewsOffice installation using your webbrowser. You will now get an upgrade screen. Follow the instructions and you are done.
Adminstrators have the highest position in your installation. They can manage news, change settings and manage the users.
Editors can manage news and change settings. They do not have the permissions to make new users or edit existing ones.
Writers have the least permissions. They can only manage the news and nothing else.
If you are an Editor or Writer: contact your Administrator and ask if he can reset your password.
If you are an Administrator you can also ask your Administrator to reset you password. But if you are the only Administrator and you can not login, login to your FTP connnection or Administration Panel and do the following:
- Go to your installation directory of NewsOffice
- Go to the directory: data
- Find the file user_1.php
- Open the file and search for $user_password = "(your encrypted password)";
- Remove everything between the quotes "
- If needed upload the file you just edited to the directory you got it from.
- In your browser go to your NewsOffice installation and login using your username and leave the password field blank.
- You will now be asked to change you password. After this you will be able to login again.
If you are not the owner of the website or for some other reason you can not login to the website FTP connection or Administration Panel. Contact the person who can and let them follow the steps described above.
- Works similar in NewsOffice 2.
Yes of course you can change them. Login to your website's file manager or FTP connection and in your the NewsOffice directory go to images/smileys/. Here you find the default smileys. All of these have special codes with which you can show them, like :D :) or ;). Replace the files with your smileys, but use the same filenames for the smileys you want to use. All the new smileys that didn't exists yet will be avaliable under: [filename]. Example: filename.gif -> [filename].
Yes you may change the default skin of NewsOffice. But you have to let all the copyright and NewsOffice texts intact. As you agreed in the Terms of Use.
Which files should I edit?
- site_start.php
-
The start of the skin of NewsOffice, containing the html start and header.
- site_close.php
-
The end of the skin of NewsOffice, containing the html ending and footer.
- style.css
-
The style sheet of NewsOffice, here all colors and images are set.
Yes of course you can change it. Login to your NewsOffice installation. Go to Manage -> Uploads. Delete the file default_avatar.gif and upload the file you want as the new default avatar. Make sure the filename of that file is default_avatar.gif. When you uploaded it, it will be the new default avatar.
First go to the Support section -> System Status in NewsOffice and check if everything is writable. If not, login to your FTP and change the files and directories that are not writable to CHMOD 777. If the error still show go the support forums and post your error messages.
This problem is created by the fact that the http path is not entered correctly during installation. You can repair this by going to Settings -> News Settings -> Web path to NewsOffice installation . Enter your http path, example http://www.examplewebsite.com/NewsOffice/. DO NOT FORGET the slash at the ending. This will probably have caused it.
